SROI-International CEO Jeremy Nicholls on March 14th delivered a CPD seminar for the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants titled Accounting for Value: Is accountancy still fit for the purpose in the 21st Century?

Attended by professional accountants and CSR practitioners, the seminar examined the overlaps between financial accounting and sustainability reporting and considered ways to reform accountancy for better incorporating social and environmental values and costs in statutory reporting.

There is an increasing recognition that the value being created and destroyed by organisations isn’t being effectively accounted for and initiatives like GRI, SASB, Integrated Reporting and Cost Benefit Analysis to name a few are a response to this challenge.

This seminar explores the overlaps between financial accounting and sustainability reporting to consider a more significant role for accountancy in how we account for and manage sustainability.
